About the Japanese Scoliosis Society (JSS)

The purpose of the Japanese Scoliosis Society (JSS) is to promote research on scoliosis to contribute to scientific and therapeutic progress in the field of spinal deformity. The society was established in 1968, and the first general meeting was held in October 1968 under the chairmanship of Professor Kengo Yamada of Tokushima University. The JSS was established more than half a century ago. In 2016, the JSS adopted a new administrative system operated by a board of directors, and professor Morio Matsumoto of Keio University was appointed as the first JSS president. The JSS (as of 2018) is comprised of 680 members, 10 board members, 2 auditors, 26 councilors, 37 honorary members and 14 standing committees.
